Finding a good foundation can be a nightmare, not only do you have the minefield of finding the right shade. You also have to battle through all the amazing claims the brands make to find a formula to match your skin type. After spending a small fortune on different formulations and brands, these are the five I would recommend for those of us with normal/drier skin types. These are the foundations I find myself reaching for more than any others.
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation £7.99
This was one of the first gel foundations on the High Street.,which is one of the reasons I was drawn to it. I tried it when it first launched a good few years ago and have pretty much always had one in my collection since. Lots of brand’s have launched Gel foundations in the mean time but this is still the best in my eyes. Without doubt one of my all time faves, I have rambled about it many times on here and to anyone that will listen. If you have dry skin just try it!
Our first Gel Foundation with no waxes and fillers. Coverage that looks and feels 100% you. The secret of Fit Me Foundation? Some waxes and fillers can mask your skin colour, Fit Me Foundation has none. Its transluscent gel based formula merges seamlessly with your skin.
Dior Nude Air Serum Foundation £33.00
On the pricier side but without doubt one of the best foundations I have ever used. It’s like velvet on your skin, it glides on the skin to create an airbrushed finish that can be built up easily to a fuller coverage when needed. Even though it’s moisturising it still lasts all day with a youthful dewy finish. It’s a must have for drier skins. A little goes a long way as well so although expensive, a bottle does last a long time. You can check out my full review here.
Dior’s Diorskin Nude Air is a weightless, ultra-fluid foundation serum that creates a nude makeup look. Formulated with SPF 25, it offers sun protection and the fresh-faced beauty of a natural-looking glow. Infused with Oxygen Activ™ technology, an innovative blend of a hyper-oxygenated oil, cranberry oil, vitamin, and minerals, this serum’s high-precision dropper deposits an undetectable film of makeup onto the skin, while its soft-focus agents and glazed pigments instantly produce an even-looking complexion that achieves the right amount of coverage for a radiant, sheer finish.
Loreal Lumi Magique Foundation £10.99
I only discovered this last year but I love the radiant glow it gives the skin. Definitely one for more mature or drier skin types. It really does lift the complexion and gives medium coverage that can easily be built up. Perfect for days your skin is looking slightly dull and needs a little boost. It covers up your flaws but doesn’t cling to any dry patches of skin.
The first liquid light foundation that offers a perfectly natural complexion, infused by light for a healthy-looking glow like never before! With age skin can become dull and tired. Lumi Magique helps give instant skin radiance. You will be glowing inside and out.
Light texture, lets skin breathe with 24 hours of hydration. With SPF 18 and 12HR magic hold.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation £10.99
A great day to day foundation that add a real radiance to the skin with out looking greasy or shimmery. It’s medium coverage and extremely buildable. Without doubt one of the best the High Street has to offer. It gives a skinlike cake free finish whilst still offering you coverage.
Give your skin a radiance boost with Bourjois’ Healthy Mix Serum Gel foundation – made from a vitamin-rich fruit therapy formula for an even complexion and an instant anti-fatigue result!
Its fresh and instant blending gel texture blends and glides onto the skin for an even, natural finish with no mask effect. Imperfections are erased, signs of fatigue are smoothed and the skin’s radiance is boosted for up to 16 hours*.
Made from an instant anti-fatigue vitamin-rich fruit therapy formula with litchi, goji berries and pomegranates.
Givenchy Teint Couture Balm £30.00
This is brilliant stuff, another pricier one but don’t let that put you off. A hybrid of a primer, BB cream and foundation, it blurs the skin but doesn’t mask it. Created to give a bare skin finish, this is almost like you have swapped your dry skin for a moisturised flawless complexion. It’s a one of a kind product that is in a league of its own. It’s a beautiful formula and really lasts, while giving you a soft dewy finish.
Teint Couture Balm leaves your skin with a lightweight veil of coverage. Its antioxidant complex of vitamin E and jasmine flower work together to protect and revitalize the skin. Infused with a light-reflecting diamond powder, this foundation corrects blemishes and gives your complexion a natural-looking radiance.
These are the five foundations I use more than any others and will without doubt repurchase them when I run out. I really hope you found this post helpful and found some new foundations to try.
