Naked basics 2

After owning the naked basics palette for some time and using it on an almost daily basis I thought it was definitely time I invested in the second basic palette. Although quite similar to the first neutral based naked basics palette, the shades are slightly warmer toned yet still taupe based. Just like the first palette you get one satin and 5 matte eyeshadows.

It comes in a small, golden brown slightly rubbery feeling case with a Naked 2 basics written across it. It’s the perfect size for popping in your bag and the big mirror makes touch ups out and about a breeze. One of the reasons I loved the first naked palette was the formula of the shadows. They  are soft and easy to blend and this palette is no different. Unlike other matte eyeshadows I have tried they aren’t at all chalky and there isn’t much fallout at all. Again a big thumbs up from me Urban Decay.

Skimp – A pale nude satin, I’d describe it as a light peachy toned beige.
Stark – A nude- pink matte, I’d call it a light muted peach.
Frisk – A warm grey matte, when swatched it’s a light taupe/grey.

Cover – A muted red- brown matte, I’d call it a tanned warm toned brown.
Primal –  A muted brown matte, I’d say it’s a medium/ dark brown.
Undone – A deep, smoky brown matte, It’s a dark greyish brown.

All the shades are really pigmented on my skin and last a good 7-8 hours before fading. Undone is the hardest to work with as it’s the darkest shade and requires more blending to get an even finish. Yet this isn’t the end of the world and I have found this to be the case with most darker matte shadows.

I wear a neutral eye almost everyday and you can create a variety of nude toned looks with this palette. So I’m really glad, I bought this. I don’t however think you need both the basic palettes. The palettes are really similar, yet if you love matte eyeshadows you can’t get get better than Urban Decays mattes. So like me you will be more than happy to own both palettes.

Do you own either of the basic palettes? Which do you prefer? What is your all time fave naked palette? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

Lots of Love,
