A while ago now Mac released it’s latest viva glam collaboration with the queen of controversy herself Miley Cyrus. The Viva Glam Range raises funds and awareness for those suffering and affected by HIV. Now I’m a bit of a lipstick hoarder so a lipstick that helps to raise money for charity is a perfect way for me to have a guilt free splurge. Especially when its for such a deserving cause. I’ve had both the lipglass and lipstick in my collection for a little while now but as the summer approaches I know I’m going to be wearing these shades more and more.
Firstly I’m so glad they aren’t red! Don’t get me wrong I love a red lip but so many of the latest MAC collaborations have featured different variations of red. Yes, I’m looking at you riri! So when MAC announced they where releasing a viva glam range with Miley ( an avid red lip stick wearer) I did a big sigh, but that was until I saw the pictures before the release!
The lipstick is a bright medium pink with slight cool blue undertones as well as a strong shimmer. MAC describe it as a Hot pink with an amplified finish. I love how bold it is yet still really wearable, The subtle cool undertones mean it suits a variety of skin tones and helps make your teeth look whiter.
It glides on the lips with ease and gives an opaque look in one swipe’ its amplified finish is really hydrating, yet doesn’t wear off within five minutes like a lot of hydrating lipstick. It lasted around 5 hours before fading to a softer pink stain.
The lipglass is described as a hot pink with a sparkling pearl finish. In the tube it looks a lot brighter than it appears on the lips. It gives a slightly sheer finish with a reddish pink tint to the lips. It has a lot of glitter particles in both light pink and light blue. Which is not surpising considering Miley stated she wanted the lipglass to look like a pink glitterball. So if you’re not a fan of glittery lips this wont be for you.
However this is the ultimate girly lipgloss shade. It’s fun and glitzy without being too in your face. It is a bit tacky but not uncomfortable on the lips and sits on the lips without settling into any fine lines. It does last quite well for a lipgloss and lasted a good 3 hours, without drying out the lips and left a trace of glitter on the lips for the rest of the day.
When paired together you get the glamour of the lipstick and the fun of the lipglass. Giving a really pink princess lip with some added punch!
