Essence £10 challenge

Before Christmas I was contacted by Essence and asked if I’d like to take part in the £10 make up challenge, where you can choose from a range of their products to create a new look for under ten pounds!

After trying some of their products previously, I was impressed with both the quality and the price. So I was really excited to give this challenge a go,to prove you can create a new look or update your make up collection without breaking the bank.

I decided I was going to create a day to day look with the products available! So I set about creating a look you can wear everyday yet would I be able to stick to the budget? Is it really possible to create a new look for a bargain price?

Here are the products I picked

– get BIG! LASHES volume CURL mascara in Black* £2.29
– Quattro eye shadow in To die for* £2.99
– Silky touch blush in Adorable* £2.49
– XXXL shine lipgloss in Nude Kiss* £1.79

Totaling  £9.56

(I didn’t have enough in my budget for a concealer and foundation but have used both in this look.) Yet as most people would already own a foundation and concealer if they use them, so I’m not counting them! The challenge is to create a new look for under £10 and the base isn’t anything new lol Plus if your lucky enough to have clear skin then you could create the look without a base (Am I just cheating ? lol)

The Look

The Quattro eyeshadow palette is perfect for creating a natural eye look or for a classic smokey eye. I used the light gold shade all over my lid and then the second darkest shade on my outer half of the eye lid. I used the darker shade to create a smokey line around the eyes to add definition. To highlight my brow bone and inner eye I used the lightest shade. in the pallette. Then I gave my lashes two coats of the mascara. This has a lovely big bristle brush. to complete my eye look.

The blush is without doubt my favourite of all the products I used in this look. Its a soft natural flushed shade and was ever so buttery to the touch. It was also extremely long lasting.

The gloss is a gorgeous pinky nude and is the perfect bargain lip gloss.

I also used my own Bourjois Healthy mix foundation and a Collection concealer to give me the base!

I hope you agree this goes to show you can still create a pretty look for an amazing price! I loved doing this challenge and I will definitely be filling up my basket with more essence products during my next visit to Wilkinsons. These products really impressed me and if you’re looking for some new make up to add to your collection. Essence is well worth a look. Especially the blushes!!!
