After seeing the advert on telly for this I knew I had to give it ago, I love Maybelline mascaras and think they do some of the best high street mascaras available. Although double ended mascaras are nothing new, the ones I have used in the past are directed at both sets of lashes. Where as this one has a brush directed at your upper lashes and the other brush is directed at your lower lashes.
I love the fact that the lower lash brush is small enough for the smallest most delicate lower lashes and the formula isn’t as thick. It does give your lower lashes a lovely light coating without the clumps. The look is subtle yet each lash clearly more visible. I had to add several coats as the look from two coats is just dramatic enough for me.
The formula isn’t waterproof and can easily be removed, yet I did find that with my eyes that are prone to watering, I did get slight smudging but no more than with other non waterproof mascara.
The upper brush didn’t impress me. Although it did push up my lashes, It didn’t add curl or hold any curl and I felt the formula did weigh down my lashes slightly. There wasn’t any exceptional length and I found it hard to build the volume I like without the dreaded clumps. So really not the mascara for me as I love my lashes to have a lot of volume and look thick and full. It does however accentuate every lash and give a real fanned affect to them all. So if you have longer lashes that you just want to darken or define this would be perfect for you and will open up your eyes.
Overall I love the idea of a double brush and the bottom brush is much better than the top. I am quite disappointed by this latest offering from Maybelline. It is a pretty average mascara, It gives a pretty and natural look but just didn’t deliver enough volume or length and gave quite a spidery look instead of the voluminous look promised.
Have you tried this mascara? Will you be buying it? Which mascara is your all time favourite?
